DOIT as example for social innovation

We are happy that we are mentioned as one of the good examples for social innovation. The German Aerospace Center (DLR) included the DOIT programme in their report about social innovation in the context of EU-subsidy programmes. They say that DOIT enables young people to actively participate in their society and bring positive change. DOIT was interviewed by SOCI@LL as a best practice on current practices for innovative inclusive systems inside and around schools that foster cross-⁠sectorial collaborations.

Mariagiovanna Carpinteri is project manager within the School Unit of CESIE, a European centre of studies and initiatives established in 2001 in Palermo (Sicily, Italy) , inspired by the work and theories of sociologist Danilo Dolci [2] (1924-⁠1997). And she works for the Erasmus+ funded project SOCI@LL, coordinated by INOVA+, started on 15th January 2018 will last three years.

SOCI@LL MAIN OBJECTIVE is to foster social inclusion and multicultural learning in education and training systems supported by a whole school approach that ensures the full involvement of the end-⁠users/⁠beneficiaries (students, teachers, local authorities, and local communities) creating local social labs, virtual platforms interconnected through a European network.

Within in these preparation phase they collect a common body of knowledge and best practices on current practices for innovative inclusive systems inside and around schools that foster cross-⁠sectorial collaborations. Therefore, Mariagiovanna Carpinteri did an interview with project coordinator Sandra Schön (Salzburg Research) in November 2018 to share first results and insights into DOIT. Of course DOIT love to do this cooperational work and is looking forward to the future publication!

As described, DOIT was part of a joint workshop of this year's EDmedia conderence 2018 in Amsterdam, and we already wrote a post about Stefanie Panke's feedback within the AACE review. We are happy that we additionally got another nice feedback by Janaina Minelli de Oliveira from Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Spain). You find the whole text by clicking at the screenshot.

I’m attending EdMedia 2018 this year and it opened with two parallel workshops. I decided to attend “Making with kids in Europe – to foster digital literacy, to make a better world, and to build a new entrepreneurship education”. It was so inspiring.

As described, DOIT was part of a joint workshop of this year's EDmedia conderence 2018 in Amsterdam. Thanks to Stefanie Panke, who participated at the workshop, we got a very nice review of this 3 hours long workshop: "Feed Questions Instead of Answers: Making Workshop at Edmedia 2018"

I walked away with pedagogical inspiration, a deeper technical understanding, heightened curiosity – and a pledge for making activities I want to try out within the next 4 weeks.

Within the first week of March 2018, the project team of the European Entrepreneurship Competence Framework published - with a contribution of DOIT! From the abstract:

EntreComp into Action is a guide for those individuals and organisations who want to use EntreComp, the Entrepreneurship Competence Framework, to foster entrepreneurial learning. It illustrates the breadth and depth of potential for using EntreComp to meet different goals and aims to inspire more actors across Europe and beyond to use it as reference.

DOIT contributed to this guide as well, please have a look at the screenshots of our contribution (not available under CC BY, but under similar conditions, see the reuse policy of European Commission documents is regulated by Decision 2011/833/EU (OJ L 330, 14.12.2011, p. 39).
